The Cecilia Choir was founded in 1975. Since 1999 Michael Deltchev has been the Artistic Director and Conductor of the choir.
The Cecilia Choir is a mixed choir, consisting of approx. 35-40 singers. The repertoire is primarily classical music, but a great deal of the a cappella repertoire also includes choral music from the 20th century and music by Scandinavian composers. The Cecilia Choir gives approximately 8-10 concerts of its own per year, but does also perform with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra – and just to mention some of the works: Christus by F. Liszt; Gloria by A. Vivaldi; Requiem by W.A. Mozart; Lobgesang by Mendelssohn, and Christmas Oratorio by J.S. Bach, Ein deutsches Requiem by Brahms etc. In 1995 The Cecilia Choir celebrated its 20th anniversary, releasing a CD with Christmas music, "Evensong", and in November 2005 the CD, "DECEMBERLYS" (December Light) was released in connection with the choir's 30th anniversary. The choir has made several concert tours, e.g. to London in 2000. In 2004 the choir visited Bulgaria with stays in Sofia & Plovdiv, and the choir participated in a special concert in Haskovo, which was broadcasted on Bulgarian television. In November 2008 the Cecilia Choir visited Budapest and performed at concerts in St. Anna Church and St. Matthias Church. From the Matthias Church in Budapest
